May 23rd, 2018 by

Besides the obvious theme parks that tend to put a strain on your wallet, there are a lot of options in Orlando when it comes to finding activities that kids will enjoy. Whether you are a local or a visitor from Brandon looking for something new, check out this guide of free and cheap kid-friendly Orlando activities!

Lake Eola Park

Lake Eola Park is centrally located in downtown Orlando so you can easily build this into a day of city sightseeing. There is free parking nearby, and the park itself is free. Rent paddle boats, catch an outdoor concert, or let your toddlers feed the swans (with lettuce, spinach, or pellets from the swan feeders). There is something for everyone here!

Blanchard Park

Another great (and free) place to spend a beautiful day in Orlando with kids is Blanchard Park. Open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the summer, this kid-friendly and dog-friendly park has:

  • Picnic areas
  • Lots of open grassy space
  • Outdoor sports areas like soccer fields and baseball fields
  • Boating and fishing
  • 8.1-mile Little Econ Greenway Trail for hiking
  • The Little Econ River for nature observation

The Crayola Experience

What better place to take your toddlers on a rainy day than The Crayola Experience at The Florida Mall in Orlando? Kids under two get in free, and general admission is $24 for the entire day, so you can step out for a lunch break or shopping break right in the mall. If you know your tots will want to come again, an annual pass is only $31 and will pay for itself after just two visits. At the Crayola Experience kids can do things like:

  • Melt crayons into fun shapes
  • Watch crayons being made live
  • Design fashions with crayons and see them realized in a runway show
  • Have birthdays and other events in the Party Rooms!

Skeletons: Museum of Osteology

For curious minds, Skeletons: Museum Osteology is a no-brainer. At $13 for kids and $20 for adults, this all-day pass allows you to explore over 500 skeletons (both animal and human!) and 40 exhibits, and is well worth a day trip from Clearwater. Come to this unique family-owned museum for an educational experience that will make your jaw-bones drop.
